Alfa Lift: Steel cut ahead of schedule
The Alfa Lift design vessel is the largest, most innovative, and efficient, custom-built foundation installation vessel ever conceived. On the 1st March, six weeks ahead of schedule, OHT CEO Torgeir E. Ramstad and Alfa Lift Project Manager Bjarne Birkeland visited the China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) facility in Jiangsu (Haimen close to Nantong) to take part in the Steel Cutting Ceremony. The Ceremony marks the first major milestone in bringing the vessel to the market. Also present were CMHI General Manager Mr. Wallace Yao, and other senior CMHI Management.

Sub-suppliers also present at the Ceremony included Ulstein who delivered the conceptual and basic design, Liebherr who are supplying the main crane, Kongsberg Maritime who are supplying the integrated control and automation, DP, and high-voltage systems, MAN who are supplying the main engines, Rolls Royce who are supplying the thrusters, and Safeway who will be supplying the motion compensated gangway. Alfa Lift is due to be delivered in January 2021. The next major milestone will be the keel laying ceremony which is scheduled for August 2019.
