Engine room conversion

Through the last month MV Falcon has completed an engine room conversion in Qingdao, China. The boiler and steam driven ballast pumps were replaced by an auxiliary engine and electric driven pumps. The flexibility of the ballast system remains, it has a higher level of redundancy, but most importantly the conversion means big savings in cost and to the environment.

A submerging operation with the steam driven pumps would in average consume 57.6 t of bunker.  This has now been reduced to only 4.3 t.  Every year from now CO2 emissions from M/V Falcon will be 5,100 t lower.
